Bespoke application development, support and consultancy for Northern Rock plc
Northern Rock is currently the 8th largest UK quoted bank (by market capitalisation), the largest financial institution based in the North East of England and one of the most cost efficient UK mortgage lenders based on key performance ratios. It currently employs over 4,000 people at its Newcastle head office.
The services provided
Savantis expertise is in the field of financial systems consultancy and it was in this capacity that we were initially engaged by Northern Rock in 1997. Our first assignment was to use our specialist knowledge in the area of distributed front counter cashiering systems to prepare Northern Rock’s counter terminal application for the Millennium. This experience had been gained over the previous 10 years working on similar systems at other banks and building societies in the UK.
This task was completed successfully and we were subsequently contracted to provide on-going maintenance of the system as well as ad-hoc development and support consultancy in other areas of Northern Rock’s business. In 1999 Savantis were invited to participate in the re-development of the application to run on a PC based platform. This resulted in a replacement system, developed using Microsoft tools, being rolled out in 2000. Our expertise, flexibility, hard work and competitive rates helped to secure the bulk of the support contract for the replacement system in 2001 and in 2003 Savantis were awarded the support contract in full.
